Our good friend Carol McCleary has had her second Nellie Bly novel - THE ILLUSION OF MURDER - published by Forge Books. While at The Pittsburgh Dispatch, Nellie wrote a series of articles about women who worked in local factories entitled "Our Workshop Girls." These articles demonstrated that women could do the same jobs as men, and just as well. Nellie also wanted to show that women were willing to work at jobs outside of the home. She hoped that owners in other industries would follow the lead of businesses profiled.

NEW ARTICLE POSTED! Before she went around the world, Nellie traveled to Mexico. What began as a travelogue soon became a scathing commentary on the country. In fact, when she left Mexico, Nellie was just one step ahead of the police. Nellie wrote many articles about her trip for The Pittsburgh Dispatch.
